 Carnival.

Fun for adults and the children. This is always the Thursday before Shrove Tuesday ending on Ash Wednesday. Street parades, fancy dress and fun fun fun.

 The week after carnival in Germany, Basel carnival starts. Three days long the city of Basel is driven by the sound of piccolos, drums and carnival brass bands. Plenty to see and hear!

March 

Snow Shoe Trek. Another chance to take part in a “snow shoe trek” – a real alternative to skiing.( See 06.01.08 above for details )

 Wieden Male Voice Choir. A special event is the annual concert of the Wieden Male Voice Choir. This concert takes place every Easter Sunday. The choice of songs ranges from modern English and German pop to traditional male voice choir!

Mainau Island.

Situated on Lake Constance, the Island opens for you to view it’s beautiful gardens, winter gardens and butterfly   house for you to view.  The internationally known island is a must for both “gardening experts” and families. Fantastic displays await you, both outside and in the glass houses. The arboretum is a must too!

The season kicks off with the Orchid exhibition every year.

For the kids there is the Water World. ( Try getting the kids away from this !!!)

International music week ( Basel ). 17 – 27.04.08

Gidon Kremer, one of the world’s best violinists is the artistic director of this one week festival of fantastic chamber music concerts held in the museums of Basel.

An international gathering of motorbike fans from all over Europe.

A special church mass for all denominations ( a blessing for the safety of all concerned ) kicks off this weekend of fun, discos and special events. Also a chance to sample the excellent roads of the Black Forest.

 Take part in our yearly “Rambling Week”- always the 40th week of the year!
